Dear Parents

Welcome to Shorncliffe State School. We hope your association with the our school will see your child develop educationally and socially.

We see ourselves as a school for the community and hope to develop within our children a sense of belonging and trust. We want to develop in our children a realistic self – concept with positive views of self and others. We want to nurture their sense of wonder and curiosity.

Our school works hard to develop a climate that supports learning and teaching. We see that it is the right of all children to feel safe and secure within the school, to allow individuals to develop their own particular skills and potential. The differing needs of each child are recognized and met.

As professionals, we spend much time in preparing and planning for the educational growth of your child. We encourage in our children an active involvement in their own learning. We strive to expand their sensory, perceptual and conceptual knowledge and skills through discovery, fantasy and play. We encourage children to participate, enjoy and succeed in all the activities we undertake at school.

We invite you to become involved. The success of our school comes from the contributions made by staff and parents. We value your input as relevant to the development of our children. Some parents choose to contribute in class with the teacher of their child. Others participate on the P&C and other committees at the school. Through good communication and involvement we will be able to provide the best education for your child.
